After US Open triumph, Bianca Andreescu has a day and street named after her

A day after Bianca Andreescu was honoured in her hometown Mississauga with a “She The North” rally that was attended by thousand of people, neighboring Toronto proclaimed Monday as “Bianca Andreescu Day” in honour of the newly crowned US Open champion.

Andreescu defeated Serena Williams in straight sets at the US Open final to become Canda’s first Garnd Slam singles championa and deny tennis great Serena her record-equalling 24th Grand Slam title.

After her historic trimpuh at the Flushing Meadows, Toronto Mayor John Tory thanked the teenager for inspiring young athletes across the city. Tory wrote on his official Twitter handle that Andreescu has “won the hearts of millions of Torontonians.”
