Friday Sept. 24, 2021, Huawei Chief Financial Officer, Meng Wanzhou faces court on a video link. She is allegedly charged with fraud. The HSBC documents, according to her lawyers, doesn’t prove anything that could be rated as fraud. “Huawei and Skycom Tech are two different companies”, the lawyers explained.

Skycom Tech, the Hong Kong company at the center of Huawei Technologies’ alleged violation of US sanctions on Iran, shared the same email domain as the Chinese telecom’s equipment giant, public records show. Concurrently, Washington has pressured allies, including the UK, not to use Huawei equipment in new 5G telecoms networks amid claims that it could pose a security risk, an allegation strongly denied by the company.
